Elder Cade Amongst the Yetis

I thought that since this blog is turning out to be an awesome and inspirational website I wanted to add another couple of missionaries onto it.....As usual we always do everything a little bit backwards at first and I think it is because it takes a lot of trial and error before anything really sinks in. So our older kids suffer while we figure out how things work. So with that said I now want to introduce to you our oldest son. Elder Cade is our first missionary that we have 'sent off' on a mission. He started his mission almost a year ago so he is about half way through.....wow! that time went fast!! He is serving a service mission in at the COB (as he calls it....the acronym for the Church Office Building) and is really loving it. He must be loving it because he gets himself up every day at about 6:15 am in order to be ready for Elder Joan (pronounced Jo ahn) to pick him up. (And that is not easy for Elder Cade because he is definitely NOT a morning person!) It was a blessing to us to have Elder Joan return home early from his proselyting mission because of health reasons (I wouldn't wish that on anyone but for our situation with Cade it was a real blessing for us!) to provide the opportunity for Cade to have a constant companion and someone to keep track of him on his mission. In fact, our bishop said it was Elder Joan's idea for him and Cade to serve together and he has watched out for him ever since...This gave me real peace of mind! And Cade too!!

Elder Cade and Elder Joan are working for the Audio/Visual Dept. setting up and taking down all of the equipment needed (along with other necessary assignments) for the many meetings that the brethren hold everyday and it has been a wonderful learning experience for Elder Cade. We are so proud of the work he has done and his willingness to give of his time.

Like I said we do things a little backwards.....Elder Cade started his mission last July and because his calling came so fast he started the day after he received his letter with no preparation like a normal proselyting mission. So he gave his missionary 'farewell' talk a month or so after he started and he also did not go into the temple until October. We chose his temple date to be the same as our Stake Temple Day in order for there to be many members of our ward in attendance and there were over 40 that came to his session alone!! (It helped to personally invite them all by phone or in person but I thought there was a good chance of them planning on being there anyway and so they made an extra effort to go to the 5:30 pm session Elder Cade was attending.) There was a beautiful spirit there, as usual, but it was even more special because Elder Cade is such a sweet spirit!! Everyone who knows him loves him!! Especially his family.....
